Float sensor: reliable level detection for water and various liquids
In many situations, a float sensor is a better alternative than a water sensor or detection tape. This compact sensor switches on as soon as a liquid reaches a certain level and offers a potential-free contact for monitoring or control.
When would you choose a float sensor?
- Detection of non-conductive liquids, such as demineralised water
- Alarm notification in a drip tray or basin when the level rises
- Potential-free switching contact for level control or process monitoring
Suitable for water, oil, petrol and diesel
This float sensor is resistant to tap water, rainwater, wastewater, and various other liquids. Please note: for diesel, petrol, or oil, the black nylon version is required.
The installation height determines the switching point. A minimum fluid level of 8.5 mm is required from the bottom to activate the contact.
Connect to water detector or level control
The sensor can be connected to a water detector or level control as a replacement for a conductivity sensor. The 2-wire signal cable can be extended to approximately 50 metres.
Switching function NO / NC
As the liquid level rises, the float rises and closes the switch contact. The float body can be inverted to change the switching function:
- NO (normally open)
- NC (normally closed)
For alarm applications: Magnetic ring on the bottom = NO = contact open in the lowest position.
Note
Minor variations in specifications are possible.
