Product description
Want to keep your pond frost-free in winter? You can do it with a special waterproof heating cable and a digital pond thermostat.
Lay the rolled-out heating cable at the bottom of the pond. This ensures optimal heat transfer and high efficiency, because all the heat is transferred to the water.
Applications
Heating cable keeps the pond frost-free
Tropical fish (koi) do not like frost... This waterproof self-regulating cable keeps the pond frost-free. After winter, simply bring the heating cable back up.
Please note: this set is intended to prevent the water from freezing, so not for heating for breeding purposes.
Frost-free pond with waterproof cable
The length of the heating cable determines the heat output. There are 7 different lengths, for keeping ponds up to about 20 cubic metres (m³) frost-free:
• 5 metres/ 125 Watts - up to 4 m³ = 4,000 litres.
• 8 metres/ 200 Watts - up to 6 m³ = 6,000 litres.
• 12 metres/ 300 Watt - up to 9 m³ = 9,000 litres.
• 16 metres/ 400 Watt - up to 11 m³ = 11,000 litres.
• 20 metres/ 500 Watt - up to 14 m³ = 14,000 litres.
• 25 metres/ 625 Watt - up to 17 m³ = 17,000 litres.
• 30 metres/ 750 Watts - up to 21 m³ = 21,000 litres.
'Too high' power does not mean higher energy consumption. It does mean that the controller may switch off sooner, because the set temperature (a few degrees above zero) has been reached.
Important: spread the heat cable well out on the pond floor. Tip: check in advance that there is enough space for the selected cable length!
Pond heater - waterproof sensor
The matching
pond thermostat works with an external temperature sensor. It measures the temperature in the water just above the heating cable.
The connecting wire is 10 m, but you can easily extend it to 50 m. If the sensor wire is interrupted or short-circuited, the thermostat displays a fault message.
Pond thermostat - control box
With the digital thermostat you can set the switching temperature. It should be placed in a dry room, e.g. shed or storeroom. The LED light shows immediately whether the heating is switched on.
Connect the heating cable and sensor to the control box. If necessary, use a 230 V extension cable for the heating cable.
Check the pond temperature
You can use the pond thermostat as a digital thermometer for checking the temperature at the same time. The water temperature can be read all year round, i.e. even when the heater is switched off.
The highest and lowest measured temperatures are stored in memory. Set temperatures remain in memory if the mains power is cut.
